Losing a Pound a Day With the Mono Diet - How to Eat Only One Type of Food to Lose Weight

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

Losing a pound a day with the Mono Diet may seem difficult to many, but this article will tell you how. More importantly, we will tell you how to eat only one type of food to lose weight so make sure to read the entire article.

Losing a Pound a Day With the Mono Diet - How to Eat Only One Type of Food to Lose Weight

One of the classics when it comes to being healthy and slim is losing a pound a day with the Mono Diet. Most people cannot keep up with this strategy while in fact it is so easy to follow. It is not like those complicated programs wherein they will ask you to eat various foods with specific measurements leaving you puzzled. The reason that most people do not want to try this program is that they think that they would be eating a single kind of food every day for the rest of their lives. Losing a pound a day with the Mono Diet is eating a single kind of food every meal. It does not mean that you have to eat the same foodstuff in all three meals daily. Some people suggest that raw chow will make the best choice for this kind of weight-loss program because of its higher nutritional value.

As we all know, there are three groups of foods. There are foods that are high in carbohydrates, high in protein, and those with starches. Examples of those that have high protein are eggs, cheese, eggs, meat, and fish. On the other hand, those with high carbohydrates, which are healthy, are fruits and vegetables. Lastly, those with starches are potatoes, pasta, bread, and pasta. Below is a concrete example of this program:

1. For breakfast, you can eat an apple and two bananas to give you the needed energy to last for as much as 24 hours.

2. You can eat a half-roasted chicken without the skin. Roast is better than frying chicken to avoid fattening oils sticking to the chicken.

3. Three baked potatoes will suit your evening appetite. Frying potatoes is not a good choice so it should either be roasted or baked.

Eat, Sleep and Play to Be Young and Fit

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

People have never been fatter, sicker and weaker than they are now. Whenever I travel to the US I am blown away at how many people are fat and grossly out of shape. Canada is getting there too but seems to be a decade behind or so. I was in Walmart here in Calgary the other day and literally became worried about Western Civilization.

Eat, Sleep and Play to Be Young and Fit

Why are fat kids drinking slurpies while their parents load the grocery cart with cheap processed poison a common site now? Obesity and diabetes are epidemic in North America. Why? Unfortunately the common response to being obese seems to be taking drugs and then as a last resort surgery. It drives me crazy!

The solution to the obesity epidemic is so simple and free that I don't understand why this is even a problem. Hey, I was fat too, and after a little reading and self searching I have never struggled with my weight again. All we have to do is look back before our world changed and conspired to make us fat and weak for profit. Look back at how people lived before being 30% body fat was considered normal.

Before the industrial revolution:

Eat
People ate unprocessed foods. They did eat a lot of grains, but their grains were actually wholesome and were eaten to fill a hungry belly more than anything else. Meat was craved, and veggies were always beside them.

Do not listen to anything you ever see on TV about food, especially supposed health food. If it comes in a wrapper and has any chemicals in it, it is not healthy or natural, despite what Kelloggs and General Mills would have you believe.

I am a big believer in the Paleo diet and as a result think you should only eat what nature has provided humans for thousands of years.

Eat This:

* natural or organic meat
* tons of veggies
* some fruit
* nuts
* natural full fat yogurt
* berries
* fish, especially fatty omega-3 fish like wild salmon

Do not eat this:

* grains
- don't believe the hype, even the most natural grains are filled with phytoestrogens and phytades which actually prevent the absorption of nutrients
* milk
- it is basically chemical sugar water now, it is so far removed from what comes out of a cow that I don't think anyone should drink it
* anything processed (in a package or wrapper)
* alcohol, obviously
* sugar
- it promotes cancer in the body and actually feeds cancer cells
* corn
- it is a grain not a veggie
- corn derivatives like high-fructose corn syrup are killing our children with obesity and as a result diabetes

I should mention that nobody is perfect when it comes to eating well, especially me. The idea is to stay as true to a natural diet as possible so when you do screw up at a party you are not going to fall into a diabetic coma.

Sleep
Before TV and computers do you know what people did when it got dark? They slept! They slept for about 10 hours a day compared to our current norm of 5-7.

In fact, Sleep is so important to weight loss and physical health that preventing it was a favorite torture method of the Soviets. Your body needs sleep to recover from damage and stress, it is how you repair yourself. Forget about late night TV and go to bed early. You will lose weight and feel better almost immediately.

Did you know that Cuban Olympic weight lifters used to sleep 9 hours a day and then nap for 3 hours? I leaned that from Dan John's site. They did this to recover from the stress of training and to keep their weight down to stay competitive in their class. I actually tried this for a few weeks a while back and never felt better. It was unreal!

Exercise/Play
Imagine a world of no cars. A world where if you needed to go across town you actually walked there, even if it took a few days. Maybe you rode a horse instead, but that is still fairly physical. Not to mention that they actually had to physically work each and every day just to survive. From hunting to building to carrying things, people burned some serious calories just living. Today people sit on their asses all day and then might hit the gym for an hour or so before going back to sitting. Unless you are moving for 8 hours a day you are sedentary, so stop thinking your 3x a week gym schedule should be getting you lean!

You need to train hard and often to really be physically fit. Unless you are an elite athlete you should vary your activities as much as possible. I recommend six days a week of good solid activity and one day a week of pure rest. Our lives are incredibly sedentary so six days a week of varied activity will not be too much as long as you are sleeping and eating correctly. Before you surf along to a website that tells you it is OK to not exercise often and you can have abs too, remember that you can make exercise fun. It doesn't have to be a chore. Here is some direction:

* Sprints, 1-2 time a week
* Lift heavy stuff, 3 time a week
* Lift light stuff for high reps, 2-3 times a week
* Long slow cardio, hiking or biking, not jogging, 1 time a week
* Play, 1-4 times a week
- sports, goof around on a jungle gym, just have fun with your workouts!
* Take the stairs
* Walk or bike to work
* Go for a walk at lunch time
* Find excuses to exercise without exercising!

To sum it up, being healthy and looking like it too is really simple.

Eat a diet consisting of natural foods that are high in nutrition and low in empty calories.

Sleep as much as possible, 10 hours is a good start. Just turn off the boob tube and go to bed! Maybe even bring your spouse with you there a little early;)

Exercise hard and often but make it fun. Join a sports team, go for hikes with your significant other, and don't be afraid to lift some iron to keep that muscle on. Vary your activities so you aren't bored and going through the motions.

In summary, do exactly the opposite of what all the fat people are doing and you will look and feel great.

The Caveman Paleolithic Diet - How to Get Healthier

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

From various media, we have been told that we should build our diet from carbohydrate-rich foods, cereals, wholemeal bread and pasta. Those foods are the backbone of a healthy food.

The Caveman Paleolithic Diet - How to Get Healthier

But it belongs to the point that we do not need any starchy foods. We need no extra supply of carbohydrates.

There is no one who has died because of too few carbohydrates, but there are many who have gone now because of too little fat or protein.

It is therefore quite useless to bring the body carbohydrates, the body can cope with, but we do not need.

We need fat and protein

The liver is the body can produce glucose in the body and it uses the fat and protein for this. The liver can manufacture about four cups of sugar and it is enough to meet the tissues that need it.

You can actually get by without eating a single iota of sugar or starch, but you have to have enough protein and fat.

Caveman diet

This did our ancestors in many hundreds of thousands of years. They lived by hunting and fishing and took advantage of the nuts, berries and fruit that they found. But they never ate, breakfast cereals, bread, pasta, potatoes or any other sugary foods.

Now this does not mean that you forever must avoid anything with sugar in it but when you have regained your position as a healthy man that is good values in terms of sugar in the body, so you can vary the diet a bit without body damage.

From and to help you eat more starchy foods. But it must not be staple food in your life, for when you return to the old habit and becomes round and tired etc....

The Solution

The solution is easy to give your body the nutrients it needs and then let it take care of their health improvement on their own.

Digestion is needed to break down all aspects of food into a liquid that the body can benefit from. When starch is broken down to glucose, there is a risk that blood sugar rises. If you eat a potato, it is comparable to eating half cup of sugar!

The same is true if you eat bread, waffles, cookies, pasta and rice. Carbohydrates get the body to affect insulin production and it will be a rush of insulin factory to decompose carbohydrates.

So it is a good idea to avoid these foods to return to better health and perhaps a reduced weight, allowing you to do more and find life on the bright side...

What Kind of Person Does It Take to Become a Dietician?

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

It takes a special kind of person to not just become a dietician, but to be successful at it. There are a great deal of different dietary paths that one can explore and choose to share with their clients. Paleo, vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, and countless others are all different paths one may follow on their dietary journey. Being a dietician means that you must be knowledgeable in all of these areas as diet is not a one size fits all situation.

What Kind of Person Does It Take to Become a Dietician?

Every person, healthy and sick, has a different health profile that demands different things from their diet. An effective dietician must be able to help others choose the right path for their clients based on their family history, disease profile, and personal preferences. Beyond that, there are different religious beliefs and health problems that may make a certain type of diet more beneficial for certain people. This is a key point to being a dietician. You must get to know your client and be able to pick the type of plan that is going to improve their health and also be safe for them. The best dieticians have empathy for the predicament that their clients are in. Admitting that you have health issues that need to be attended to is a difficult admission to make. Cookie cutter approaches will not work when dealing with clients who are struggling. Therefore a good dietician will have a kind heart and a good soul. They will be able to apply that empathy to develop a relationship with the client. The successful dietician will be able to transform this relationship into a success based plan for their client.

Once there is a bond of trust between the dietician and client it makes it easier to get through to a client and help them move towards making better choices for themselves. A good dietician must have an open mind. Finding a dietary solution for someone is not a one size fits all type of process. One must have the humility to admit that a path of action might not be in line with their personal beliefs or preferences. If one is a vegan they may have to admit that a meat based diet is appropriate for a client because of their unique health profile and challenges that they face. A stubborn or close minded dietician will not have their client's best interests at heart. They will end up being more interested in conveying their own beliefs and credos than in helping their client in the most effective way possible. To become a dietician and be successful at it, you'll need to be more selfless than selfish in your ways.

Are You Paying to Get Fat? What You Need to Know About Thyroid Nutrition and Emotions

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

As a woman, I want to look and feel great. That means having a flat stomach, firm arms (I will admit hanging arm pouches terrify me), clear skin, great hair and lots of energy to get me through the NYC summer madness of concerts, cocktails and lots of body exposure.

Are You Paying to Get Fat? What You Need to Know About Thyroid Nutrition and Emotions

Do you too? Yeah, I thought so.

Do you know women who are perpetual dieters, who spend 10-20% of their income on diets? It's kinda boring or heart breaking to hear about their next dietary quest when your secret inner voice whispers "Oh dear, I really hope this one works for ya."

Whether it is you and someone you know, I want to help you understand something: DIETS DO NOT WORK.

We lose the pounds because we deploy all sorts of tricks. The results are: deprivation of nutrients your body needs, therefore cravings kick in and you crash and binge on the 6-month mark.

70% of people who do restrictive diets put these pounds back on, and 50% of them put on even more before they started. Are you kidding me? No.

Are we paying to get fatter?

As a health and nutrition coach, I want to explain why. And most of it is not knowledge offered by Weight Watchers, Atkins, Zone, Paleo fans and the likes as they have no business (or perhaps awareness) in telling you this.

So here are the "weight loss" industry dirty secrets.

There are several major deal breakers that will sabotage your weight; addressing them is critical in weight management. You can starve yourself to 500 calories/day and still have a fatty belly. Here are two deal breakers and a glimpse at some quick solutions:

Emotions, emotions and more emotions!!!

This is a HUGE one and the most overlooked sabotaging factor in weight management, probably because it requires skills to peel off many layers to uncover why we do thing the way we do.

Let me give you an example: I recently worked with a woman who grew up in a strictly religious household and was conditioned to believe that boys and sex were "bad". As a rebellious girl, she became highly promiscuous in her early teenage years and carries that guilt with her till today. She never maintained a lower weight for longer than 3 months as her sense of guilt for being overly attractive always kicks in. This is when she goes back to binging so she can put back on that weight, make herself less attractive so her guilt was lessened.

Can you see how our emotions, "the story" many of us have would totally sabotage our efforts? So what is your story? What fear do you have? Is fear the force behind losing weight? Is losing and regaining weight a control issue for you? What negative emotions make you take action?

So what can I do?

Seek the help of a life coach, a health coach, an insightful friend who will help you identify what is your sabotaging "story". Identify it first before you go on another diet. In fact, it's very likely that this very "story" has a profound impact on many other facades of your life.

You are welcome.

Hypothyroid

What? Yes, since thyroid became my focus area, I've discovered that only half of the female population gets diagnosed with a thyroid condition. There are an estimated 27 million thyroid-compromised people in the US alone, this means 13.5 million do not know they have it. Ouch.

A slow thyroid called hypothyroid effects:

· metabolism: stubborn weight that just won't go away (right?) even though the diet and lifestyle have been the same

· nervous system: depression, foggy brain, forgetfulness

· digesting system: bloating, constipation, indigestion

· adrenal system: fatigue, moodiness.

Many, many women have a thyroid condition even though their blood work shows normal "thyroid". This is too long of a topic for this article but I would be happy to explain more.,

How to fix it?

You have these options:

· See an endocrinologist; he/she will get on hypothyroid medication that typically works for 3-6 months then the symptoms return

· Research a holistic approach of diet + movement + managing emotions and cure yourself, the way I did (watch below)

How To Speed Up Your Metabolism Today!

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

One of the best solutions to drop fat and lose weight is to hack into your metabolism. When you learn, comprehend and use all of the various approaches to enhance your metabolism you'll notice the benefit.

How To Speed Up Your Metabolism Today!

Those that genuinely wish to accomplish this goal must take a healthy approach. This involves correct diet, exercise routine and yes even vitamin supplements. Throughout the remainder of this post I hope to present a formula for taking your fat burning capacity to exponential levels

Enhance Your Metabolism

Green Tea Leaf - Green tea has dependably been proven to be one of the most reliable approaches to slim the fat off. Study after scientific study has confirmed this to be the case. The special factor in this highly effective potion is EGCG. Moreover green tea extract has a lot of other healthy perks.

These other perks include longer life, lower cholesterol, clearer thinking and overall well being. Although the fact that is boosts your metabolism is one of the best features, it is not the only one that is worth considering.

Cold Water - Besides the reality that the human body is predominately comprised of water, consuming it ice cold also enhances your metabolism. The reason being your body needs to go the extra mile to process the cold water and fully take it in. This creates a thermodynamic effect within the body. Although this little trick isn't life changing, accumulating a bunch of little tricks like this one will prove to be extremely powerful.

Snacks That Boost Metabolism - Probably the most prevalent healthy foods that boost the system are: acai berries, almonds, trout, strawberries, cayenne pepper and cinnamon. The more you increase in take of these dishes to your diet the greater improvements you'll find yourself having.

Quicken Metabolism Capsules - Generally you need to take your system one stage further with supplements. Personally, I prefer to use organic metabolism boosters that will take you to the next level. I won't recommend which is best to use in this post, because largely that is based on user preference, however I cannot stress enough my bias towards going natural.

It is also very important to realize that there is no such thing as a magic pill. If your supplementation does not coincide with workouts, healthy eating and over positive lifestyle then you can expect them to be largely ineffective.

Quick and Dirty Workouts - The secret to useful trainings is to make them brief, special and action packed. The more strong your workout is now, the more weight you will melt away after it's finished. In fact, you're likely to feel hyper charged and energized after your workout.

The reason that this works is because you are shocking the system. It does not have time to adapt and so it continues to burn fat after the fact. Many enthusiasts of diets like The Paleo Diet and The Warrior Diet all emphasis this type of workout.

Thyroid Development - The single most crucial gland in the human body for managing metabolism is the thyroid. It controls balance and determines whether or not to take your metabolism into gear. Men and women that have problems with thyroid matters might very well have a more tough time dropping excess pounds.

Thank goodness there are a lot of healthy treats that help thyroid functioning. Some of these meals include seafood (trout, tuna ) and nuts (almonds especially).

The material in this article is some of the most critical elements to carrying out a lifestyle for optimum fat reduction and fat burning. However, it's only information. It's up to you to actually put it to use and I sincerely hope that you do.

It Is a Science

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

Diet and Exercise are scientific issues, they both create biological changes in humans. Things that effect humans on a biological level are in the realm of science and medicine. The mechanisms by which diet and exercise change people are extensively studied and are readily available for examination. For example, the role of insulin in regard to fat storage and fat burning is widely known and understood. The action of insulin in regard to the 3 types of diets is essentially what distinguishes all of the thousands of "diets" in the world from each other. There is a cohesive scientific understanding about this matter. Calorie restriction diets such as Weight Watchers do not try to lower insulin levels but instead rely upon energy balance (fewer calories consumed versus calories burned) to effect weight loss.

It Is a Science

Carbohydrate restricted diets such as Atkins, The Zone, and the Paleo Diet rely upon limiting insulin levels to lower fat storage and increase fat burning to effect a net loss in fat. Diets such as Eat Stop Eat and other forms of intermittent fasting rely upon periods of simply not eating to lower insulin levels and to promote a hormonal profile that increases fat loss. The underlying science of diet is not so complex or mysterious for many people to understand. You do not need to have specific training in nutrition to have a reasonable understanding of the science involved. If you have some understanding, you are not overwhelmed by the marketing of these diets. Calorie restriction diets have notable downsides, rebound (regain of fat lost), loss of lean tissue, lowering of metabolic rate, and "diet obsession".

Carbohydrate restricted diets have downsides, creation of carbohydrate craving (binge eating of carbohydrates), lowering of metabolic rate, and a rebound tendency (less than from Calorie Restricted diets). Intermittent fasting diets also have as a downside, the discomfort symptoms from periods of fasting such as lightheadedness and irritability and hunger pains along with overeating behaviors when the fast is broken. This can result in a situation of no net energy deficit (no fat loss). Intermittent fasting does have other important health benefits besides fat loss. Armed with the above information one can make rational decisions about diet (fat loss). The body of evidence is building to create a consensus that intermittent fasting may prove to be the "solution" at the end of the trail for fat loss. Recent studies in regard to dramatic increases in hGH levels when fasting are propelling a mass reexamination of the benefits of fasting even with fat loss considerations set aside.

However, the overwhelming number of people make their diet decisions without any consideration of the above science. Failure rates have been unaffected by advances in scientific understanding. This is a problem. Health officials are reluctant to take any firm stands lest they be seen as promoting some particular business entity. The net effect has been to leave the public completely vulnerable to market manipulations. i.e. "Diet Confusion". Obesity rates have skyrocketed, obviously, the same old approaches are not working. Now, let's examine exercise.

Exercise is absolutely a medical and scientific issue. Exercise is NOT a recreational issue. Without medically sound exercise, the probability of osteoporosis, type II diabetes, joint replacement, immobility, constant pain, obesity. lowered immune response and even depression all go up. The seriousness of these maladies precludes the consideration of exercise as a simple recreational choice. Medically sound exercise is an effective method to dramatically lower the chances of having the above afflictions. The main point is that exercise and diet are way too serious an issue to be trivialized into some decision based upon "feel good" thinking. The wrong diet and exercise decisions can waste as much as 15 hours per week and still not get any significant result. As a culture, we need to replace "dong something" with doing the right thing.

The Future of Fitness in 2010 and Beyond

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

What is going on all you fitness crazed braus and sisters? I do hope you are well...

The Future of Fitness in 2010 and Beyond

It is December and it is time for my annual fitness year in review.

Sadly, it seems that the fitness industry at large has not made any great inroads into providing a short term, long term or any term solution to our country's large scale obesity epidemic that is not just a national crisis (oh yeah, it is a CRISIS on a freakin' GRAND SCALE) but, a world wide catastrophy (Alright, officially a pandemic).

SCARY STUFF, MAN... SCARY, SCARY STUFF!

The sickening fact that our country has become through both poor nutrition (NOTE-no thanks to some real crap and far too long perpetuated information from the mainstream) and a lack of REAL EFFECTIVE exercise, (NOTE-i.e. GARDENING, even if it is ALL OUT, REDLINE, HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL WEED PULLING AND LAWN MOWING does not qualify as exercise...) not only more fat, more lethargic and more sick and getting sicker; we have succeeded in passing down to our youth a new disease called TYPE II Juvenile Diabetes. Now, this is just straight up NUTTS!

Man, things have gotten' screwed up big time! And, now we have to make things right. So, what I am going to do is provide some real positive upside strategies that, for lack of a better term, will be the fitness 'trends' of 2010. These ideas will help both our youth and adult populations find what maybe better solutions to acquire better health and well being.

What is done is done. Now, it's time to get this country back to being the STRONG & FIT nation we deserve to be!

Sound good to you?...Cool! Here we go...

2010-The year we will finally get our fit together and GET. FIT. DONE.

Fitness Trend #1- Fitness Boot Camps Will Take Over One-On-One Personal Training

Hey, after this two year long recession who can afford a one-on-one personal training session anymore? Answer=Very few.

Well, with problems comes solutions. And, the emergence of the fitness boot camp has provided the solution to the personal training problem. Boot camps are the HOTTEST thing going on in the fitness world right now! The boot camp model provides the ultimate win-win for both trainers and clients making one-on-one training virtually obsolete. Fitness trainers are better able to leverage their time because they can provide their service to larger groups and maximize profits. Fitness clients (boot camp members) are better able to access personal training services in a unique and dynamic team environment that provides great motivation, energy, social support & accountability for only a third or less of the cost of the average personal training session.

If you are looking to lose weight, look GREAT and feel better in 2010, do yourself a favor... save some of your hard earned $ and simply get better results by joining a local fitness boot camp.

This will be the best decision you will make ALL year!

Fitness Trend #2- Interval Training Will Give an UNDISPUTED Beating To Long, Boring Aerobics Workouts... A BEATING!

Why is High Intensity Interval Training gaining rapid popularity? Because it freakin' works...BIG TIME!

It crushes endurance type training because endurance training (lasting 30-60 minutes or more)

focuses on volume of training. Here is a typical example: Your average runner will pound the pavement for the same amount of miles, at the same pace, over and over, day after day, week after week, month after month...beating down their bodies and getting less than exciting results from that investment of time and energy. They are burning off weight by wasting away muscle and destroying their metabolism at the same time. This method sounds like a poor ROI for someone who really wants incredible, long lasting results from their exercise program.

Now, bring in the power of HIIT. High Intensity Interval Training focuses on a much more substantial variable for productive exercise; and that is quality or intensity of training. HIIT works similar to resistance training in that it stimulates the body's systems to maintain and even gain lean tissue. And gaining muscle is the key to a 'fat rippin', look better, feel better, BE BETTER METABOLISM!Hey, did you know that fat burns in muscle? More Muscle...Faster Metabolism!

Put in yet another way-Unless you want to LOOK like the top 30 minute finishers at any marathon race, it is probably not a good idea to train like one!

If you want science behind this idea just look at these two landmark studies-

The Tabata Study and The Gibala Study

2010 is the year you will "Ripp It Up" with ALL-OUT-EFFORT type of HIIT work, and you will look better naked for it!

Fitness Trend #3- If We Want Improved Health, Performance and A Killer Body Then...

We need to get rid of those unnecessary sugars in our diets!

This is not some kind of trendy, fad type of rhetoric. If anyone still thinks a high carb, low-fat diet works then they probably have not recognized the obvious devastation that this type of diet has caused.

Here is a very short list:

- 2/3 of our population is Overweight/Obese.

-Diabetes up 400% since the food pyramid of 1986 (Recommends lots of grains

and cereals, and low fat)

-A new disease...Juvenile Onset Diabetes (another name for Type II Diabetes)

-Cancer diagnosis have gone through the roof! Highest rates in history.

Hey, what does a tumor FEED on? SUGAR! Hmm...

-Cardio Vascular Disease (High carb diets stimulates the liver to drench the

the circulation with triglycerides and LDL's)

-High Carb diets cause and support Metabolic Syndrome

-A recent John Hopkins University Study has changed the way doctors will treat certain cancer patients. By eliminating carbohydrates in cancer patients' diets, oncologists have found it unnecessary to treat many types of tumors with toxic doses of chemo as well as radiation to shrink or, entirely eliminate the presence of these tumors.

Great books to read and establish a sound understanding of how our bodies REALLY respond to the foods we eat are:

'The New Diet Revolution' by Dr. Robert Atkins, M.D.

'The TNT Diet' by Jeff Volek, PhD RD.

'Protein Power' by Dr.Michael R. and Dr.Mary Dan Eades, M.D.'s

'The Paleo Diet' by Loren Cordain, PhD

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! READ!

Fitness Trend #4- Fitness Boot Camps For Kids? Yeah, Why Not!

Lets face it many of our school districts have limited or eliminated gym class based on budgetary or other B.S. reasons. The reasons are not that important as the fact that now we have a real issue of addressing the fitness of our youth outside the school setting. (Unless the kids are involved in sports at their school). No worries though, because of Youth Coach Brian Grasso and his International Youth Conditioning Association, there is now a growing trend of youth specific exercise programming in fitness facilities throughout the world. The IYCA has developed incredibly effective programming that is relevant to age groups ranging from 6-9, 10-12, 13-15 & 16-18. The programming takes into consideration the neural development of pre and pubescent kids so they can learn and adapt movement and exercise in appropriate developmental patterns. A real important fact with youth and exercise is this: Kids that are exposed to fun and effective exercise early on tend to continue with a healthy and fitness oriented lifestyle for LIFE!

To learn more please go to International Youth and Conditioning Association

Fitness Trend # 5- Fitness Anywhere & The TRX Will Rule The Fitness Roost

Man, I started using the TRX four years ago. When I was throwing the straps on top of the cable machine at our local health club, everyone was looking at me like I had 3 heads on my shoulders.

Well, four years later I have to say "if you are not using the TRX, you are the odd man out!"

Hey, If you have a chance to use THE MOST PROGRESSIVE & VALUABLE EXERCISE TOOL

the fitness industry has seen in years, JUST DO IT!

You may never go back to "machines" again. http://www.fitnessanywhere.com/

Alright those are my Top 5 fitness trends for the next year.

Now, I want to close this up by asking- "If I were to give you some real easy tips to follow (well, maybe not so easy in practice) for the ultimate, one-two belly fat burning punch for that kick ass New Year... New Body You...

Would YOU Follow Them?"

a.Change your mindset about food

(Read TNT Diet by Jeff Volek)

...Look for my book. It will be available soon!

Raw Food Diet - What is the Downside?

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

Let us say someone has just now become aware of the harmful effects of cooking and freezing food and now wishes to 'go raw'. The downside is that he is barraged with warring camps of raw food enthusiasts. Some agree on a few points but take sides and seek to disqualify the opposition on most issues. That to me IS the downside.

Raw Food Diet - What is the Downside?

Briefly, the major camps consist of:
Raw vegans who eat only raw plant food, but raise the temperature of 'raw' to 115 degrees Fahrenheit

Raw vegetarians who eat fruit, vegetables and sprouts, nuts, seeds, grains, legumes, eggs and honey but no red meat, and mostly no fish or poultry. For most vegetarians, eggs and dairy are included.

The Raw Paleolithic diet is one of the raw animal food diets. The Raw Paleolithic diet includes raw meat and organs but excludes raw dairy, grains and legumes.

The Primal Diet is a raw food diet which stems from traditional and primitive diets that include meats (fatty meat is preferred) and organs, dairy in all forms, raw eggs, honey, vegetable juice and some fruit with raw fat.

Most versions of a raw food diet DO cause benefits. Some benefit is caused by the automatic elimination of all processed foods and additives - for instance, flour and refined sugar under all names.

Some raw food diets allow table salt (or sea salt) to be a part of a raw food diet, not as a living food but justified by the fact that sodium chloride crystals are found in nature.

Most of the talk and internet presence is about vegetarian and vegan raw diets all of which need various quantities of supplements to enable the dieter to get enough basic nutrition. Many people can get along for a while as vegans or vegetarians. The main visible side effect is looking very thin. The main experiential side effects can be fatigue, lack of energy, muscles weakening & vanishing, and reduction of bone mass.

The history of body building has many important examples of what can be achieved on a raw paleo or Primal diet (reference: Muscle, Smoke and Mirrors, Vol. I - a complete history of body building viewable by Googling the author Randy Roach).

According to the vegan/vegetarian plan, mother's milk is the only beneficial milk - therefore do you need to bring your mother when you go away to college or move out to start a career (to say nothing of having her available in the high school cafeteria)? Other than that, even raw milk from a goat or a cow is not recommended on the strictly vegetarian/vegan diet, nor are other dairy products or eggs.

One goal of each of the raw food camps (vegetarian, vegan, paleo and Primal) is to eliminate any reliance on drugs or other medical procedures such as surgery. This is definitely NOT a downside in most cases, however the fact that the various camps fight against each other as to how this can best be done leaves the potential newcomer to raw food battle-worn and starved for some convincing evidence of the effectiveness of whatever camp he is most drawn to.

Another fairly general goal of each raw food diet is to reduce intake of toxic matter and eliminate stored toxins. The ways of achieving this vary quite a bit from camp to camp. The ways a human body deals with toxins include proper functioning of circulatory, lymphatic and immune systems through the lungs, sweat glands, liver, kidneys and colon. The vegetarian raw food diets have a close reliance on repetitive colon cleansing through a series of enemas and/or colonic irrigations combined with fasts. Some downsides include that this is time consuming - plus one increases one's reliance on these man-made solutions instead of decreasing reliance. On the Primal Diet, there are NO recommended breaks from intake of proper food - even for a day - and there are several natural ways of bringing about proper elimination of toxins. For instance, proper elimination can be accomplished through lymphatic baths (see We Want To Live for details) and natural methods of elimination through the colon, which don't also flush away valuable bacteria.

Some versions of the raw food diet are not helped by ongoing campaigns that only thin people can be good looking. Continuous and persistent ad campaigns show thin cover girls on popular magazines. Again the ways of achieving such thinness vary tremendously; there are many other ways for weight loss besides a raw food diet but in none of these diets is health given the #1 priority. In a truly beneficial raw food diet, health IS the priority.

One would think that if our digestive abilities as humans were studied, more agreement could be reached. This study has been done but the results have been kept safely between the covers of a book, thus are not well known & thus the debate continues. Email the author of this article to ask for the summary paragraph about our digestive abilities.

In summary, when one chooses to follow a raw food diet despite the downsides mentioned above, there are many sub-choices which require some due diligence. One must add in the time it takes to make or buy daily staples such as fresh vegetable juice and raw coconut cream. One must budget to cover the costs and one must find sources for various foods & feel right about whether or not they are all natural or have been fudged in one way or another.

3 Day Cardiac Diet Review

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

The 3 Day Cardiac Diet supposedly comes from the Birmingham Hospital in Alabama, hence it is also known as the Birmingham Hospital Diet. According to reports, this diet plan was designed for the use of patients who needed to lose up to 10 lbs weight quickly so they could undergo surgery.

3 Day Cardiac Diet Review

The true origins of this diet are not clear and the Birmingham Hospital does not claim responsibility for it. Moreover, the diet now appears to have become the stuff of internet legend as there are versions of it widely known under a variety of names, including the Tuna Fish Diet, Baptist Hospital 3 day Diet, 3 day Navy Diet, 3 day Army Diet, Birmingham Cardiac Diet, Florida 3 Day Diet, American Heart Association Diet, Alabama 3 Day Diet, Hospital 3 Day Diet, and more.

However, there is a strong correspondence between the menu plans of these different versions so, for all intents and purposes, they can be treated as the same diet and comments applicable to one are substantially applicable to them all.

In summary, the 3 Day Cardiac Diet comprises menu plans for breakfast, lunch and dinner covering a period of three days. The daily calorie intake is about 1,000 calories, so much of the weight loss benefit is likely obtained by the restricted calorie intake, although some claim is made that the benefit is due to chemical reaction. Eating a low level of carbohydrates will also mean that water is lost from the body.

For the plan to produce results, it's important to keep hydration levels up by drinking plenty of water: 6-8 cups is recommended. This also aids digestion.

An important source of protein for the 3 day Cardiac diet is tuna. 1/2 cup of tuna is consumed on the first two days, increasing to 1 cup on the third day. Variety and nutrition is provided with small portions of vegetables, grapefruit, banana, cheese, eggs, crackers and toast. Coffee or tea is permitted with meals. (For a detailed menu, do a quick search for my article, "3 Day Tuna Fish Diet- Menu and Diet Plan".)

Some concerns about this diet stem from the restricted levels of calories and nutrition. As the calories provided in this diet are so low, it's is likely that followers will feel hunger pangs and lower energy levels, especially by the third day. Vitamins and minerals are also low so that probably a multi vitamin supplement should be recommended as an additional source.

With only three small meals a day, your body may start to recognize that only a limited food supply is available and begin to compensate by reducing metabolism and energy levels to conserve fat reserves. This actually makes it harder to lose weight and, along with the feelings of hunger, places the body under additional stress.

The 3 Day Cardiac diet does not claim to be suitable for long term use and after 3 days you should follow a program that offers more variety in the content to provide the proteins, fats, carbohydrates and other nutrients that your body needs. More variety would also make it easier to follow this plan, as well as more enjoyable.

It is possible to follow a quick weight reduction plan that offers a more balanced and healthier range of foods. In particular, one which includes a technique known as calorie shifting and takes into account your own food preferences would be a good choice.

Following the 3 Day Cardiac Diet provides restricted calories and nutrients for its intended duration and the weight loss benefits come with some risk to health as well as bodily stress. Also, the diet is not a long term solution and any weight loss reduction could well be offset by food binging that results when your eating program returns to normal. A better approach would be to follow a dieting plan that is more likely to bring true fat loss and provide a continuing, long term loss of weight, along with a slimmer, trimmer, more attractive body shape.

Three Dukan Diet Mistakes You Must Avoid If You Want Fast Weight Loss

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

The Dukan diet menu is key to fast weight loss. How you create yours, what meals you put together, is down to you. But be warned, poor menu choices can have a detrimental affect on your Dukan diet progress.

Three Dukan Diet Mistakes You Must Avoid If You Want Fast Weight Loss

It is all too easy to slip into ruts, to overlook things you're doing wrong or missing out on. It is possible to enjoy your time on the weight loss program and to look forward to delicious and exciting meals. But in order to do this you must take charge of your Dukan diet menu. Sloppy planning will have a detrimental effect on the speed of your weight loss. Boring menus lead almost inevitably to slips and binges.

You have been given a list of 100 foods that you can eat and enjoy in almost unlimited quantities. However, how you eat these foods, the recipes you come up with, the taste, the variety and the excitement is all up to you. In this article I will be looking at three mistakes most often made and the simple solution to avoid making them.

1. Not writing things down

I can't remember where I heard the phrase "plans that exist only as post-it notes in our heads" but I remember that the speaker wasn't very keen on them. Most of us muddle through life making plans that we keep filed away somewhere in the back our minds, adding to them from time to time whenever struck by inspiration. The trouble with plans made and maintained like this is that they're are not worth the paper they're written on!

It is all very well walking through the supermarket and mentally adding items we see along the way to a Dukan diet menu created in our heads - as long as we actually put any of these ideas into practice. I've thought of loads of Dukan diet friendly meals ('food experiments' some of them) mentally jotting down the ingredients list and then never actually putting it all together in the kitchen.

The trouble is that it is easy to think and plan out your Dukan diet menu when you're sitting in traffic, on a train, in boring meeting, or waiting outside the school gates while your kids look for missing jackets and sports kits. But it's harder to pop into the shops on the way home and remember all the details of the latest 'Chef's Special' created for your updated Dukan diet menu.

The solution comes in the form of a simple piece of paper (or laptop screen if you prefer). Put aside twenty minutes to plan out a weekly Dukan diet menu or jot down the ingredients and ideas for new and exciting recipes. A small notebook or pocket diary can be useful for recipe ideas. Instead of relying on mental post-it notes, actually write down your ideas when you have them. The next time you are food shopping, you can check your notebook and have a list of ingredients there in front of you.

Writing down the recipes that make up your Dukan diet menu will also help you eliminate the following related problems.

2. Not having enough variety on your Dukan Menu
Once we have found the meals we enjoy eating, are used to cooking and we feel secure in eating (safe in the knowledge that the food is 100% Dukan diet friendly) it is tempting to stick with what we know. This works well for a while but the menu, obviously, becomes very limited and that quickly becomes boring.

One of the problems is that shopping for food that is suitable for people following the weight-loss program can seem like too much hassle when you're tired after a hard day and you just want to go home. In this situation it's tempting just to pick up the stuff you're used to and prepare a meal you've had so often you could put it together in your sleep.

The solution, mentioned above, is having a list of ingredients already written down so you don't have to think about what you need on the spot. The added benefit with writing down your weekly diet menu is that you can plan out your meals. The simple act of writing the same meal over and over again will be enough to spur you on into being a bit more adventurous.

3. Missing out important foods (and drink)

When you are relying on a mental checklist is it easy to forget things here and there. This is especially true when we're trying to remember very unusual or very familiar items. How many times have you gone to a store to pick up one particular item, impulse bought something else, and then left without the things you actually when in there for?

When I go food shopping, I don't have to remember to buy milk. This is because I buy milk every time I go food shopping (my family guzzles the stuff). I'm usually pretty good at getting the normal every day items but as soon as anything unusual goes on the shopping list, if I don't actually physically write it on a list, I'm bound to forget it.

Most people new to the Dukan diet are not used to buying oat bran. It is a new ingredient for most of us when we start the weight loss program and it is easy to overlook. However, if you write down your Dukan diet menu, breakfast, lunch and dinner, in full then you can ensure that your daily oat bran portion is included and not forgotten.

Real-life menus come with a drinks list and your Dukan diet menu should be no different. Drinking water, enough water, each day is vitally important on a high protein weight loss program like the Dukan diet. Some of the toxins left over after your body has digested protein needs to be flushed out of your system. If you drink enough water each day then this will take care of things and you have nothing to worry about. In addition, drinking too little water each day can lead to water retention which will make you look bloated and fat (something none of us want!). A third benefit is that by drinking water throughout the day you will be properly hydrated and so feel fresher and more alert.

By including water on the menu as part of your daily routine you will make sure that you are consuming the correct amount each day and enjoying all the benefits.

The Three Day Diet - How Does It Work?

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

The come in several numbers and in different thoughts. The three day diet. It is dieters favorite term, their perfect option before a big event (i.e; dance, wedding, special event) and it is the "easy" way out of the usual standard of hard core dieting and punishing exercise. The free three day diet is great for the heart and will have you eating food from fish to Kaiser to tuna and mayo.

The Three Day Diet - How Does It Work?

Cleveland's Three Day Clinic is widely held as the best in the business of losing weight quickly and their ties with the American Heart Association gives the program the credibility and the reference that they have. Their 72hr diet plan includes plenty of omega three fatty acids (similar to those found in several types of fish) and the diet is often referred to as the Army 3-day diet and the Navy Diet. Menus for this specific weight loss plan can be found free of charge on a variety of websites and each offers a different spin on the diet.

However, obtaining a copy of the free three day diet may not be in your best interests, as many people have come to realize. It has been stated that the association's diet has led to only temporary weight loss (otherwise known as water weight) which occurs mostly due to a severe cutback in carbohydrates. People who have been on the diet consistently have a similar complaint that their weight has a "yo-yo" effect of jumping from lower weights to higher in just a matter of days.

The diet, as it is also known, has it's supporters as well as its negative viewers. The people shielding positive light say that the free three day diets help you when you are in desperate need of losing weight before that big date or special anniversary. These people are not consistent dieters but occasional users of the diet plan. I need a copy of the 3-day diet myself! The clinic 3 day diets are sprinkled throughout the country in major cities (check your local listings) and great for learning more about this great diet "secret!"

Lose 10 Pounds in 10 Days - A Few Quick Tips For Losing Ten Fast

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

Want to lose 10 pounds in 10 days? Is it even possible to lose that much weight in such a short period of time? The answer is: yes! However, it takes some serious effort on your part. If you want to lose pounds fast follow the steps below.

Lose 10 Pounds in 10 Days - A Few Quick Tips For Losing Ten Fast

Note: For best results you'll need to do everything listed below at the same time. Each method works on its own but, when combined, a powerful synergy is created that will help you get rid of body fat very quickly.

Here we go...

3 Quick Tips for Losing 10 Pounds in 10 Days

1. Focus like a laser.

The key to achieving any goal -- including fast, healthy fat loss -- as quickly as possible is to focus your thoughts and actions like a laser. When your mind is completely focused on reaching a single important and attainable goal you'll make great progress in an incredibly short amount of time.

Create a goal statement and read it out loud at least twice a day. Something like: "I will lose 10 pounds in just 10 days by eating a proper diet, doing effective exercise, and taking the right supplements."

Keep your goal in your mind at all times. This will quickly become a positive habit that you can use to achieve fast success in any area of your life!

2. Eat clean and cycle your calories.

When it comes to losing pounds fast, diet is about 75% of the solution. One of the best diets for losing weight quickly is a "paleo-style" diet based around lean proteins, fish, vegetables, raw fruit, nuts, and seeds with little or no grains or "white" carbs (e.g. potatoes, white rice, etc.). Stick with beans and legumes only for starchy carbs.

Also learn to cycle your calorie intake, since it's one of the easiest and most effective ways to lose weight fast without starving yourself or feeling too deprived. This requires some planning but, once you get the hang of it, it's fairly easy to do.

3. Do interval-based exercise.

3-5 times a week you should do a short, intense, interval-based workout that include both full-body strength training and variable-intensity cardio exercise (such as HIIT cardio). This is the type of exercise that is proven to strip off the fat while helping your body maintain lean muscle tissue and a fast metabolism.

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

Just because an old enemy is gone doesn't mean we have no one else to fight. The fight to get ripped with minimal time, rages on. The War on Fat!

Navy Seals Kill OBL, But the War on Fat Continues

As Americans our number one enemy is fat. Americans are some of the most obese people on the planet, and that's a statistic we shouldn't be proud of. One of the major concerns, for not only Americans, but people worldwide is fat. We are all searching for that one program to get ripped with. We have tried everything from Atkins to Paleo to Cardio. Nothing works on the war to get ripped and lose weight.

We, as a people, are always searching for the new fad to help us lose weight or get ripped with, guess what? Fads don't work, and are usually detrimental to your long-term health. So why do we look everywhere else for a solution, when the solution has been in front of us this whole time.

Natural Advice For Whitening Or Brightening Your Skin Tone

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

A White, creamy complexion that is unflawed seems to be what every lady wants. And it doesn't matter whether you are African or Asian or European either. Everybody wants their complexion to be lighter with as little imperfections as possible and a lot of people are ready and willing to put on potentially life threatening whitening ingredients to their face like hydroquonine so as to have less skin imperfections. But the best news is that there are natural more acceptable methods to handle skin issues and this includes skin brightening. In this write-up, I will certainly go over some of the other processes that many women use globally to whiten their skin and do away with blemishes like freckles and dark brown spots in a natural way.

Natural Advice For Whitening Or Brightening Your Skin Tone

What you eat is the first step to having good looking skin...

While many women will agree that things like chocolate and sodas could be a obstacle when it comes to flawless skin, quite a few women don't realize exactly how far you should take it in regards to getting lighter skin tone. If you want unblemished skin, you should consider removing all processed products from your diet. Refined food typically will contain genetically altered ingredients that are not only not good for you personally but will wreck havoc on your skin and face.

Many have gravitated to the Paleo diet and have seen success in terms of acne and other skin issues. This diet could be a perfect starting position for those who are looking to have better skin solely through their diet. And while it may not whiten your skin, it will increase the elasticity and appearance of your skin and help to remove blemishes safely. Another less radical diet plan, which consists of organic and natural whole food is the Urban Healthy Kitchen Diet. Either of these diets suggest lots of water and fiber as well as staying away from sugar which can be a catalyst in developing bad skin.

Natural Skin Bleaching Advice

Now that you have altered your eating routine to healthier and wholesome diet, the second stage is to investigate natural skin whitening ingredients. The good news is that they are out there and you can literally side step the remedies that can cause cancer because of what it have in it; things like mercury and hydroquinone are popular ingredients in these skin lith products.

The good news is that nature has some fantastic other options to bleaching skin. It's trick? If you want fleecy-white skin tone, you need to look no further than to some widely used citris fruits....the lemon and the lime.

Limes and Lemons Will Help to lighten Skin

Citric acid is a wonderful base that will whiten your complexion little by little. I say steadily because you almost certainly won't see a big difference today. If you decide to use citric acid based fruits, know that you shouldn't use it and then venture out in the sun as you may burn if you have fair or tan if you have darker skin.

Citric acid is also a nice acne home solution as well.

To use this natural skin bleaching method, you will want to create a mask with a pair lemons or limes a cup of unprocessed milk and a teaspoon of glycerin or flour. The flour will help to make this into a paste that you can apply right to your skin. Apply this to your face and leave on twenty to thirty minutes and then wash off thoroughly.

One more option to applying lemon or lime juice as a natural skin lightening mask is to take a couple drops of lemon juice and combine with some grated tomatoes. Apply this to the face and leave on for 20 minutes and then wash off. Do this 2 times a day for up to twenty days and you should see whiter skin tone.

You can also adopt some aruveydic procedures for lightening your skin tone by making a face mask with a little flour, turmeric powder and lime juice. Mix well to form a paste and apply directly to the skin. Leave on for twenty to thirty minutes and wash off.

What Makes This a Top Selling Diet Program?

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

There is no shortage of diet programs available to anyone thinking about getting in shape, losing weight, or simply wanting to improve their overall health.

What Makes This a Top Selling Diet Program?

Many top selling programs such as Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig follow very specific formulas, and meet the needs of many individuals that require a very regimented "do this" type programs. Furthermore these programs provide extremely high levels of support in terms of focus groups, prepared meals, calorie counting tools, etc. However, these programs can be very expensive, and they may not be for everyone. They also may not convey all of the health benefits of other programs as they are focused more on weight loss than feeding your bodies the fuel they were designed for thanks to evolution.

One top selling program that is less than and yet produces amazing results is the diet solution program. We should take a look at this program to understand why it is not only a top seller, but why thousands of people find it very effective in meeting their goals.

This diet approach was designed by Isabel De Los Rios, a certified exercise specialist as well as a certified nutritionist. The program was originally developed several years ago as a way for Isabel to meet her goals of losing weight, getting in shape, and minimizing future risks of developing diabetes and heart disease. It builds upon what is relatively recent scientific findings around how the type of foods we eat not only affects our weight, but also contributes to the epidemic proportions of cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, and heart disease.

Many people love this diet because it focuses on education as well as specific, easy-to-follow instructions on meal planning, how to eat, etc. Isabel gives you the science behind her recommendations, which allows you to learn how to make intelligent choices anytime you are planning a meal, eating out, or simply snacking between meals.

The principles behind this diet are similar to the concepts associated with the Paleo diet (sometimes called "the caveman" diet). This overlap and shared approach includes:

  • Harmful effects of grains such as cereals, rice, wheat, pasta, and what these foods do to your body when you ingest them.

  • An overview of recent research into the glycemic index, and why you should be very aware of how foods impact your blood sugar and insulin levels.

  • Real facts and data around heavily marketed "healthy" foods and why they aren't as good for you as companies want you to believe (including soy as well as dairy products).

  • Determining your metabolism type using a simple tool, and understanding why this will change the types of food you eat on this diet.

This diet also provides ongoing support and resources aside from the comprehensive program itself:

  • Extensive ongoing support and shared experiences via an online community

  • Tips and tricks, new recipes, the latest research on foods delivered via email a few times a week.

  • Tools to make meal planning simply, with clearly spelled out categories of foods to select portions from for each meal, grocery shopping lists, and a separate recipe guide that will likely have you eating tastier foods than you do now!

  • Concise advice on where to spend your money - which foods should be bought organic and which ones are ok to be conventional.

  • Frank discussion of the now outdated calorie counting model, and why optimal health shouldn't depend on this approach.

  • Justification for feeding your body as much of these food groups as you want, and not feeling hungry day in and day out.

  • Exercise not required to achieve real results - while important for overall health and well being, your starting point is your diet.

This program offers all of the above benefits and more - most importantly, the structure of the information, approach, and tools enable you to quickly incorporate this into your lifestyle. In fact you may not even realize after 2 months how much you have improved your lifestyle and eating habits - but you will notice feeling better and likely fat melting away. For a one time purchase of less than , it is one of the most economical choices you can make today to change your life.

What Fad Diet Should You Use After That Holiday Binge?

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

As a nutritionist I preach balanced meals because your body will absorb the most nutrients from each meal every time, versus bigger meals that will have a portion of it stored as fat or go to waste. Yet sometimes balanced meals are boring and slow to distribute weight loss results, which is why I wrote this article. In this article I will recommend 4 surefire diets that will help you burn off those unwanted pounds you gained over the holidays!

What Fad Diet Should You Use After That Holiday Binge?

Top Fad Diets That Create Weight Loss The Fastest:

The Lemonade Diet-

It's lemon, maple syrup and cayenne pepper, collectively they're a great mix providing you the energy you need for the 10-30 day period you're on it. Celebrities everywhere have been using this diet for ages and I occasionally like to mix things up. It's recorded that people have lost up to 20 pounds in just 10 days. Hands down one of the best diets to try after a tough binge!

The Hollywood Diet-

The Hollywood Diet declares a 5-15 pound drop in weight. (It's a liquid-detox diet as well)

The Zone Diet-

The next two diets will be more of a lifestyle fit for people who binge. Some overeaters like their food often and some can hold off until it's dinner time and then they eat a HUGE meal. If you like to eat often (four to seven times a day) then the zone diet is for you. It's balanced eating with a macro nutrient ratio of 40-30-30 which is supposed to prevent fat storage. The weight loss you can achieve from the first two doesn't come as fast yet it's a lot easier to maintain and hold off.

The Paleo Diet-

If you like to eat and eat BIG then this the diet for you. No sugars, No wheat, No dairy and that's it. Out of the four I believe this is the most worry free. Most overeaters are overthinkers and the Paleo diet eliminates the worry. (Calories are not a issue) Also out of all of the diets I've seen this one keep you full longer and faster, and lastly is the most nutrient densed which means you'll get all of the necessary nutrients and minerals you body needs.

The Tip:

All of these diets will help you burn off those unwanted calories from your last binge, yet remember 95% of overeaters have an internal problem, which means you can't fix it with external solutions.

-I hoped this helped.

How to Burn Belly Fat by Eating Real Food and Doing Less Exercise

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

Many people turn to health food when they decide to burn belly fat. The problem is that the so-called "health food" you find in the supermarket is doing more damage than good. Many of the products that are labeled "low-fat" are often packed with sugar to make up for the flavor of reduced fat. Sugar that isn't burned is stored as fat. Therefore, if you are not understanding the labels on your food products, you could be consuming more sugar and gaining more weight.

How to Burn Belly Fat by Eating Real Food and Doing Less Exercise

A Solution to Your Food Dilemmas

Figuring out what to eat is probably one of the hardest things anyone deals with when trying to lose weight. There are so many diet books and plans out there, all that occurs is information overload. As for myself, I have realized that reducing the amount of carbs I eat works well for losing weight and keeping it off. This means eating real food such as lean meat, plenty of fresh veggies, fresh fruit, and good fats.

I avoid eating bread, baked goods, drinking soda, and stay away from processed food as much as possible. These types of carbs convert into sugar when eaten in excess. It is very easy to overeat foods such as bread or baked goods. A typical breakfast could be a bagel or breakfast burrito. Lunch could be a sandwich. Dinner may consist of pasta or a side dish of potatoes. Do you see how easily your daily carbohydrate intake can add up? All of that food, not to mention what you drink and sometimes even including dessert!

Two eating plans that work well are the paleo diet and clean eating diet. Both promote the consumption of whole foods (meat, vegetables, fruit, nuts, etc.) and avoiding processed food. You can find plenty of information about both online.

Exercise Less and Burn Fat Like Crazy

A common mistake that happens with people attempting to lose weight is that they become cardio junkies. It is assumed that performing a lot of cardio will burn fat. What tends to happen is that too much cardio causes muscle loss. Our bodies need muscle mass in order to burn fat effectively.

If you are not a fan of cardio, then you will like knowing that strength training (lifting weights) is much more effective than cardio when it comes to burning fat. Our muscles burn calories even at rest. Therefore, the more muscle we build, the more calories burned.

Of course the options above are not for everyone. Everyone has their own requirements when it comes to learning how to burn belly fat.

Caveman Nutrition: Is This The Right Way To Eat For Fat Loss

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

John Williams, Ph.D., has degrees in archaeology and anthropology. His research and fieldwork has focused on the Paleolithic and Neolithic of the "Old World", which basically means the Stone Age of Europe, Africa and Asia. John has always had an interest in nutrition, which actually works quite well within prehistoric studies, because our past was one big food quest.

Caveman Nutrition: Is This The Right Way To Eat For Fat Loss

CB: John, you have an interesting background. Now, let's talk about North American nutrition for gaining muscle and losing fat. What's new in nutrition approaches for athletes, fat loss, and health?

JW:
I try to stay current with nutritional literature for my own interests, but I don't want to get in over my head with respect to performance nutrition for athletes. Others like John Berardi, who make a living in this field, would be better suited to discuss the latest and greatest approaches.

I have been reading a lot about fish oil lately, and its positive effects for both overall health and positive effects on body composition. Adding a little fish oil in your diet is one of the easiest ways to boost your metabolism. Recent studies have shown that as little as 3 grams of combined EPA and DHA (both omega-3 fatty acids) can speed your metabolic rate by about 400 k/cal per day.

These long-chain fatty acids also have a host of great health benefits, including brain health, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, better sugar management, and more. So by doing something as simple as popping a couple of fish oil caps with each meal, you can live a longer, leaner, brainier life!

CB: John, do you have any other superfoods that you think absolutely must be in everyone's diet?

JW:
Fish oil would be one, for the reasons given in the previous answer. Another must-have in everyone's diet is spinach. Among the leafy greens, spinach offers some of the best benefits in terms of vitamins and micronutrients. It's chock full of important phytochemicals, vitamin A, B vitamins, calcium, phosphorous, iron, folate and potassium.

But that's not all! Spinach is also one of the most alkaline foods available, which means that it helps neutralize acidic foods that are common in high protein diets. So by adding more spinach to our diet, we can alleviate a lot of stress on our muscles and bones.

I also think that most people could benefit from simply increasing their daily intake of fresh veggies and fruit. I'm not talking fruit juice or even V8, but the real deal: every color and variety of vegetables and fruit that you know of. This isn't groundbreaking news, but fresh fruit and vegetables provide an enormous amount of benefits, ranging from anti-cancer properties to improved blood lipids to increased energy.

Another food of the grain variety that I think many people would benefit from is quinoa (pronounced "KEEN-oowa"). It's a South American grain domesticated by the predecessors of the Incas that grows on a plant that looks a lot like spinach. So it's a "leafy grain" rather than a grass grain such as wheat and corn.

Quinoa is gluten-free, and contains none of the allergens common to grains from the grass family such as wheat, rye, barley, oats, and corn. Furthermore, quinoa contains lysine, an amino acid deficient in many grains, making it a complete protein. Quinoa is also an excellent source of calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, and B vitamins. It's one of the good guys in the grain family, so pick some up next time your in a whole foods-type market.

CB: Are there any nutrition-fat loss myths that you would like to clear up?

JW:
With respect to the recent swing of the pendulum to low-carb diets, it seems that a lot of people used that as an excuse not to eat vegetables. Low carb diets certainly have their benefits for many people, but there is absolutely no excuse for avoiding a big serving of broccoli for fear of a few extra carbs. Unless it's drenched in margarine, broccoli (or insert any leafy green here) can do nothing but good.

CB: Thanks John. I believe that eating large amounts of fibrous vegetables is one of the keys to getting, and staying lean. How do you think someone should eat to get lean? Does eating to stay lean differ from getting lean?

JW:
Let me address the last question first: The ideal situation is to learn how to eat to maximize both your performance and health goals, and simply eat more or less according to how much muscle you want to gain versus how much fat you want to lose. In other words, eating to get lean and eating to stay lean would differ only in overall calories consumed.

There are certainly cases when someone would benefit from a more extreme diet like Atkins to remove years of overindulgence and bad dietary choices, but the danger is always there that the person will rebound unless they learn how to eat properly.

So, how do we eat to get (and stay) lean? I have a few simple rules, like caloric balance, sufficient protein, lots of whole veggies and fruit, no processed carbs outside of the post-workout window, balanced fats - and let's not forget the other side of the coin: activity (preferably a mixture of heavy lifting and some sort of cardio). There are certainly a lot of details within those rules, and tricks to make it work for your individual goals, but it all boils down to those simple rules.

My good friend John Berardi has spoken extensively on how some people have a tendency to replace hard lifting, and even a healthy diet, with the acquisition of knowledge. These folks have mediocre or even poor physiques, yet all of their time is spent in pursuit of the holy grail of fitness and nutrition knowledge. How many carbs does that 5.8 oz serving of artichoke have, and how will this affect insulin levels? Who cares, just eat the darn thing and go lift some heavy weights! The fact remains that it takes hard work in the gym to get a good physique, in addition to knowledge about how to lift and what to eat.

Obviously, the road goes both ways, and there are still hordes of folks out there that don't know an artichoke from a Twinkie, but the key is to not get lost in the minutia and neglect what really matters: a balanced diet and hard training.

CB: You have a Ph.D. in archaeology, and you've researched evolution and nutrition, correct? What lessons have you learned from your studies? How have we evolved to eat? Does it differ geographically?

JW:
That's right, Craig. We archaeologists love to make fun of trendy "Paleo-diets" and books like Neanderthin. There was no single paleo-diet; people during the Paleolithic ate whatever they could get their hands on, and what they ate depended upon what region of the world they were living. I recently talked with Erik Trinkaus, a paleoanthropologist and the world's premier expert on Neanderthals, and he summarized his thoughts on the matter by saying "the Neanderthal world was in no way idyllic. These folks had hard lives and died young, and their version of a paleo-diet was to eat whatever didn't eat them first".

That being said, there are certain lessons we can learn about our past that can help us understand why we're having so many diet-related problems today.

I have a few simple lessons from the archaeological record concerning nutrition:

1) Eat more protein and less of the other stuff.

In a nutshell, we've been eating a diet rich in plants, fish, and animals for millions of years now. There have been many studies published in peer-reviewed journals demonstrating that getting your protein consumption over the 10-15% national average has positive benefits in terms of body composition and blood lipids.

2) Get your carbs from their source.

Paleolithic people didn't have Krispy Kreme, otherwise they'd be as fat as your average sugar junkie today. Outside of the post-workout window, when simple sugars and fast-absorbing protein is desirable, we can all benefit from avoiding all of the hyper-processed food that litters the aisles of our grocery stores, and opting instead for foods in their original, unadulterated state. If you took a look in my kitchen cabinets, you'd see a variety of whole grains and legumes: quinoa, barley, steel-cut oats, oat bran, wheat bran, lentils, split peas, and chick peas.

3) Eat your veggies and fruit.

It's clear that we've evolved to reap the benefits of a diet rich in veggies and fruit, judging from the preserved remains of literally hundreds of varieties of wild plant foods at sites such as Ohalo II, a 23,000 year old fishing camp on the Sea of Galilee. I never realized how many veggie haters there are until I started trying to get my friends and family to eat more of them.

After months of avoidance, I finally convinced a good friend of mine to increase his vegetable intake. He was by no means fat, but he was getting frustrated with a slowly growing tire around his waist. I gave him some recipes to make things like broccoli and spinach more palatable, and he eventually took my advice. After this change, he is leaner than he has ever been in his life, and he is constantly telling me how much energy he has.

4) Balance those fats.

This is an issue that really ties-in with my prehistoric research. It's interesting to note how skewed the fatty-acid profile of the modern western diet is towards saturated fat and omega-6's, at the expense of monounsaturated and omega-3's. In our not so distant past, this wouldn't have been possible, because wild animals don't store so much overall fat, and they weren't fed corn meal to inflate the omega-6's in their adipose tissue. Also, our ancestors got a lot more omega-3's from wild plants, animals, and fish. All in all, it looks like we've evolved on a diet with a good amount of monounsaturated fats from nuts, seeds, and animals, as well as a nearly equal amount of omega-6's to omega-3's. Tons of studies have shown that an inflated omega-6 to omega-3 ratio is contributes to heart disease, diabetes, and obesity, while getting a more balanced fatty-acid profile, including sufficient monounsaturated fats, actually protects against these health problems. What's the solution? Free range meat and eggs are always a good choice, and when you're buying meat from feedlot animals, go for the leanest varieties. Throw-out any corn oil in your cupboards and replace it with olive oil, and then eat plenty of fish and/or supplement with flax and fish oil.

CB: Thanks John. Excellent info. Simple guidelines. Focus on whole, natural foods.

Weight Loss and Fasting: The Solution

,
Paleo Solution Diet :

When considering weight Loss and fasting....the following point is key: use intermittent fasting to gain back control when you veer off your paleo diet track or simply want to enhance or accelerate weight loss. It's simple, pro-active and empowering. Take a deep breath and push the reset button. Here's how.....

Weight Loss and Fasting: The Solution

Intermittent fasting is about taking a break between meals. Allowing your digestive system to rest and to build up hunger. During holidays and celebrations the temptation is to overeat. Even if we are still eating paleo food there are plenty of ways of overeating "paleo" food including baked goods which take us a long way from the diet of our ancestors. Er...Paleo Cakes and frosted muffins anyone?

There comes a time however when it is appropriate to draw a line under that! Conventional wisdom suggests we do this by entering into a "detox" - a period of calorie restriction and vigorous daily exercise: that we eat less and exercise more. But you don't go to the garage to put less fuel in your car and expect it to do more for you? Exercise makes you hungry! Exercise makes you ravenous and if you are not careful you will find yourself back at square one. Exhausted, hungrier than ever and chained to a never ending tread mill that you simply don't enjoy.

There is however, another way and it's not a new idea. Conventional dietary wisdom wants us to eat three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and tea) and to supplement this with snacks. When using intermittent fasting as a weight loss tool, we might eschew breakfast and not consume our first meal until past 1pm. If you add this to the time spent asleep in bed since your last meal then you can see an estimated total fasting time of 14 + hours.

In this fasted state (also known as ketosis) you will find that your body will naturally work harder to provide energy to it's tissue from your fat stores. Hold onto your hats you are now in fat burning mode!

The point is that you are not eating less but the time window in which you eat has been reduced. In ancient tradition every fast was broken with a feast. Well, I'm not going to argue with that! There is no reason to eat less if you are following paleo guidelines in your diet. Simply eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full! Try it and see - it is impossible to overeat fat! Hormones produced naturally when real food is consumed actually manage the whole process for you so don't worry.

If you were following a diet based on calorie restriction you might miss a meal to count the correct calories but you would not replace that missed meal with additional calories at a larger "break fast" for example. So you might think you are doing the same thing but in one you would be working with your body to trigger fat loss and in the other you would be fighting against your body and it's natural hunger to produce weight loss. In one you will experience a profound sense of well being, an absence of hunger and a curious kind of symmetry with those who have lived before and who knew how to satisfy hunger. In the other you would be hungry, period. And miserable. And cross.

Early man did not eat three meals a day. Whose idea was that anyway? Early man underwent numerous short periods of fasting and ketosis and many paleontologists believe that this ketogenic adaptability was instrumental in human evolution. It is a normal healthy state and it triggers fat burning. So whether you're looking to get back on track, enhance or accelerate the fat burning, weight loss and fasting are an excellent partnership Try it and see.
